Two days ago I finished the arrangement of End Of The Beginning. I gave the score to the orchestra teacher this morning, and she said she'd love for me to come in next week and conduct the class
holy shit...this is happening really fast. Three days ago I was glued to a computer screen, and soon I'll actually be standing in front of an entire orchestra conducting Jason Becker's music. Wow...

Well, I reached the end of arranging the End Of The Beginning yesterday. I still have to go back and revise all the parts I've written, add dynamic/tempo/useless other markings, add the percussion part, then split the individual parts into sheet music for the individual instruments.
The score is 149 pages and 590 measures long. Granted, this is the conductor's score and I will be able to shrink the font considerably, but I'm still killing some pretty big trees (and brain cells).
I'm amazed at how this has "opened my ears". I listen to pieces now that I could never comprehend how to play, and all I have to do is pick up the guitar, listen to it a few more times, and then 10 minutes later I'm playing it. Hard work does pay off in the end.
On that note, I'm off to do some more work. Hopefully I'll have the score done by the end of this wkend.

HOLY SHIT!
I wrote Jason Becker a letter asking permission to perform End Of The Beginning with my high school's orchestra. He wrote back!
"Dear Alexander,
Jason said it is fine to perform "End Of The Beginning." That is very cool. I wish we could all hear it performed. There is no notation for it though.

I've been talking to my school's orchestra teacher, and there are tentative plans for me to play "The End of The Beginning" by Jason Becker w/ that school's orchestra in May!
I have to arrange it myself, though...gotta get to work
